Jennifer Metcalfe will return to 'Hollyoaks' next June.

The 35-year-old actress left the Channel 4 soap six months ago in order to give birth to her now-four-month-old son Daye, whom she has with her boyfriend Greg Lake, but it won't be long before she's back on screens as she has told bosses that she will be ready to reprise her role as Mercedes McQueen in seven months' time.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the Inside Soap Awards, held at London's iconic Hippodrome Casino, on Monday (06.11.17), she said: "I agreed June before I left. I never ask what storylines I've got coming up or what my returning story will be because I'm a blabber mouth - I've never asked in 12 years so I'm not going to start now - but I'm sure it's going to be something ridiculously exciting."
The brunette beauty is currently spending her maternity leave in Newcastle - where her boyfriend lives and works - but she'll move back down to Liverpool permanently once she returns to work and little Daye may be joining her on set while she films.
She added: "I'm not sure how it's going to work yet but he's going to be in Liverpool with me and hopefully Greg will have more time there as well."
And, although she's spending almost a year away from her family, Jennifer doesn't mind travelling to see her loved ones - even if Daye spends the whole journey screaming.
She explained: "Greg lives in Newcastle and I lived in Liverpool . His business is in Liverpool and his family is up there so it makes it quite hard for him to move so I'm spending my maternity leave up in Newcastle.
"Everyone asks how it is being away from my family but my family are scattered all over so I make time to see all my friends and family. Sometimes he screams the car down but who cares? Just get there and then get lots of help when you get there."
