Jennie McAlpine has hinted Wendi Peters could return to 'Coronation Street'.
The 34-year-old actress - who plays Fiz Stape in the ITV soap - announced over the weekend she is expecting her second child so will depart the cobbles on maternity leave later this year, and she has teased fans her on-screen mother Wendi (Cilla Battersby-Brown) could make a comeback as part of her exit storyline.
She said: "I went to see Cilla, so she could rear her, not so ugly, head again? She could, who knows? Unless Fiz gets pregnant - who knows?"
Jennie took a break from 'Corrie' last year to appear in 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' and during that time Fiz went to see her mum, who was last seen on the cobbles in November 2014 when she made a brief return to see Fiz and her brother Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) and reveal she was suffering from osteoporosis.
But if Wendi - who initially played Cilla from 2003 to 2007 - doesn't come back as part of Fiz's departure, Jennie hinted her exit could be part of Fiz taking some time apart from partner Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall), who recently cheated on her with Gemma Winter (Dolly Rose Campbell).
She said: "I don't know because I've just sprung it on them ['Corrie' bosses], so I think they're frantically thinking about they could do.
"There's a bit more of a teary scene in the next few months anyway so we could have a few more of those."
Jennie is due to give birth in October, and she admitted it is quite tricky for show bosses to think of ways to hide a baby bump.
Speaking on ITV's 'Lorraine', she added: "A basket of laundry is good, then after a bit the directors think, 'I don't know what to do with this now.' "
