Jenna Coleman has decided to sign on for the next series of Doctor Who.
The actress stars as Time Lord assistant Clara Oswald in the BBC One sci-fi series and was tipped to leave the show during this year's Christmas special.
She'll now instead continue to play the companion for the first half of the next series at least.
It's believe Jenna had a "change of heart" about leaving the show after doing the most recent series with Peter Capaldi.
Show boss Steven Moffat has been left shocked by her decision and has now prompted writers to pen a new script for the upcoming episodes, which originally saw her character killed off.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper a source revealed: "When it came to Clara, they had to tear them up and start again.
"In the original draft of the script, she became an old woman who then died with the Doctor at her side. But after they were rewritten, she will now be seen returning to the Tardis, hand in hand with the Doctor."
The pair will be joined by Nick Frost in the Christmas Day special this year as he takes on the role of Santa Claus, attempting to help the duo escape from an Arctic base.
"The Doctor and Clara face their last Christmas. Trapped on an Arctic base, under an attack from terrifying creatures, who are you going to call? Santa Claus?"
