Jenna Coleman in Doctor Who
Jenna Coleman says being on Doctor Who has increased her level of being British.
The star has loved every minute of playing the Time Lord's sidekick on the BBC One show and feels proud to be flying the flag for British television the world over.
She said: "It's been life-changing. From the mad things you do while making it, to the experiences you get from travelling around the world promoting it. The Americans love it, which is fabulous. I love that it's so quintessentially British, yet so globally huge.
"The scene of me on the back of a motorbike with The Doctor, driving past Big Ben - I've never felt more British in my life!"
The show's 50th anniversary special - which saw Time Lords of past and present played by David Tennant, Matt Smith and John Hurt reunite on screen - has been Jenna's highlight of the past year.
She enthused: "We're in the Guinness World Records 2014 for being simulcast in 94 countries at once. Who knew there were that many? But to be honest, the whole past 12 months have been a blast."
The 28-year-old star also landed a role in BBC drama 'Death Comes to Pemberley' earlier this year and says her family are constantly tuning into to watch her latest exploits.
She added to Britain's Glamour magazine: "When I sat down with my family, I was saying, 'You don't have to watch all four nights in a row!' It was a big ask. My three-year-old niece did ask how I got inside the television..."
