Jay Gardner has defended Ricci Guarnaccio amid rumours that his 'Celebrity Big Brother' romance with Lauren Goodger is fake.

The 27-year-old television personality has shown his support for his former 'Geordie Shore' co-star after viewers accused the 'CBB' star of starting a relationship with the ex-'The Only Way is Essex' star for the cameras.

Jay explained: "There's something about Lauren that he does like and he is attracted to her."

"They've met before and exchanged texts so when I knew Lauren was in there I was like, 'OK, potential'. There's definitely a spark."

When asked if Ricci would treat the businesswoman better than her ex-boyfriends, Mark Wright and Jake McLean, the Geordie was emphatic.

He said: "Definitely. He's loyal and he's faithful. He would always spend his last penny on his girl.

Jay is also convinced that Lauren is equally interested in Ricci despite her telling 'CBB' host Emma Willis that she wouldn't kiss anyone inside the house.

He added to new! magazine: "I mean, if Lauren is asking Ricci to feel her a**e there must be something there."
