Jay Blades was surprised he was invited on 'Mary Berry Saves Christmas'.
'The Repair Shop' star was left baffled during his time on the festive show, because in spite of Mary's guidance, he has no cooking skills at all.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, he confessed: "I can't cook to save my life. I don’t know why they picked me.
"I think it was to do with Mary. She is a fan of 'The Repair Shop' and I’ve met her and she said, ‘I want you to be one of my little elves to help people.'"
The BBC show will see Mary help wannabe cooks to save Christmas by teaching them how to prepare a feast for their family with the help of some celebrity guests.
Jay was tasked with helping kitchen novice Claire to make a pavlova to impress her husband. However, he 50-year-old TV star admitted the pudding didn't turn out too well.
He explained: "It goes the way you’d expect two novices to be cooking something as extravagant as a pavlova"
Instead, Jay decided to concentrate on mixing cocktails in order to “settle the nerves” as his usual place in the household is choosing the best tunes.
He said: "Mary set me a task of making a cocktail and we had a couple of drinks. My family know my role, really, is music and sitting down at the table."
Meanwhile, Mary was proud of the skills the beginners were able to master.
The broadcaster - who previously starred on 'The Great British Bake Off' - said: “It is joyful and fun. I wanted to put my teaching hat on to give them something that they would really enjoy and learn a skill from."
