Jason Donovan has quit 'Dancing On Ice'.
The 52-year-old actor and singer has been forced to exit the ITV skating show after a continuing back injury, meaning he is now the fifth star to leave.
ITV said in a statement: "Jason Donovan has brought us so much joy with his performances on Dancing On Ice – from Priscilla through to the tango. Our thanks go to Jason and Alex for being so wonderful and committed to the series. We’re sorry to see them leave and we wish Jason a speedy recovery."
Jason has been suffering from a painful back injury and has been undergoing electric physio treatment to help his back pain. He had missed the Valentine's Day show whilst the whole competition took a break last weekend to allow injured skaters to heal with the hope Jason would be back.
Jason took to social media to show himself using a Trophic Electrical Stimulator, which is attached to electrodes placed on his back.'Dancing on Ice' is due back on screens on Sunday, February 28.
An ITV spokesperson said in a statement at the time: "ITV have taken the decision to pause 'Dancing on Ice' this week and there will be no live show on Sunday 21st February. Each week our production team and cast have delivered a fantastic show during incredibly challenging times. The welfare of all of those involved is important to us and we felt it prudent to take a week’s break at this juncture. Continuing to make the best TV for our viewers is of paramount importance to us and we look forward to resuming the competition next week, with the show back live on Sunday 28th February."
Previously, Denise Van Outen and Billie Faiers quit due to injury whilst Rufus Hound and Joe-Warren Plant left after testing positive for coronavirus.
