Jason Donovan says potentially returning to 'Neighbours' "doesn't feel like something [he] needs to do".
The star played Scott Robinson in the Australian soap between 1985 and 1989 and was involved in a famous storyline when he married Charlene Mitchell, played by Kylie Minogue, but he thinks the "publicity" attached with a possible comeback would outweigh the moment.
He told the Radio Times magazine: "It doesn't feel like something I need to do. I have absolute respect for the show and what it's given me, but the problem with going back would be that the publicity becomes bigger than the moment."
Earlier this year, the 51-year-old star admitted he would consider heading back to the soap alongside Kylie or Guy Pearce, who played the role of Mike Young, and he has admitted once again that he would be tempted to reprise his role as Scott if the trio were back together at the same time.
Jason said: "If Guy, Kylie and me agreed we'd all do three episodes, that'd be different because we'd be sharing it.
"It's a bit like 'Friends'. If all of them come back, then it works. If it's just Joey, it doesn't."
Jason and Kylie dated off-screen and both went to have successful singing careers after leaving the soap.
Scott and Charlene's wedding, which aired in the UK in 1988, was watched by 20 million viewers.
Jason's daughter, Jemma, is now starring in 'Neighbours' as Harlow Robinson, a relative of Jason's character.
