Jamie Laing has topped the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ leaderboard.
The ‘Made in Chelsea’ star and his professional partner Karen Hauer scored an almost-perfect 29 out of 30 on Saturday’s (21.11.20) episode of the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition, after the judges were left amazed by their couple’s choice routine.
Jamie and Karen danced a street and commercial routine to ‘Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)’ by C&C Music Factory, and received two perfect 10s from judges Dame Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke - who was standing in for Motsi Mabuse - whilst Craig Revel Horwood gave the couple a nine.
The score puts Jamie two points ahead of the next highest couples - Maisie Smith and Gorka Marquez, and Ranvir Singh and Giovanni Pernice - who both scored 27.
At the other end of the leaderboard this week were BBC Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo and her partner Aljaž Skorjanec, who scored just 18 for their Samba.
The news came as a shock for the couple, as last week saw them soar to the top of the leaderboard after the live show, when they became the first couple of the series to score 29 points.
Elsewhere, singer HRVY and his partner Janette Manrara scored 26 for their Tango, whilst Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse, and JJ Chalmers and Amy Dowden both scored 25, and Caroline Quentin and Johannes Radebe landed a score of 24.
The fate of the couples is now in the hands of the public, who must vote for who they want to see go through to next week, with the two lowest-scoring couples going head-to-head in the dreaded dance-off on Sunday (22.10.20).
This week saw the couples embrace the spirit of Blackpool, as the show should have headed off to the iconic Blackpool Tower ballroom for the annual Blackpool special, but plans were axed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
