The 'Made in Chelsea' star is to take part in the BBC One Latin and ballroom show, and revealed he hadn't even told his mum about taking part in the programme, but he hopes he can make her "proud".

He said: "I've known for about a month. I'm not very good at keeping a secret, especially from my mum. I couldn't tell my mum.

"So now, 'Hey, surprise mum!' She's very excited. It's one of those shows that not only you get to learn a talent, but at last she'll be proud of me.

"It's an amazing experience, I can't wait.

"I've spoken to a lot of people who have done it in the past and everyone says it's the scariest but best thing.

"I want to make my mum proud."

And the 30-year-old star does have some previous contemporary dance experience after studying theatre and performance at university.

Speaking on 'Loose Women', he added: "I've got a little bit of rhythm, maybe, we're going to find out.

"I went to Leeds University and I studied theatre and performance, for the first whole year I had to do contemporary dance.

"I was the only guy in my entire year, which sounds amazing, but we did this thing called Summer Time and because I was the only guy I had to be the bulb and the flower, and all the girls were petals."

Jamie is the 11th celebrity confirmed for this year's 'Strictly'.

He will compete against Will Bayley, Michelle Visage, Viscountess Emma Weymouth, Karim Zeroual, Mike Bushell, Catherine Tyldesley, Saffron Barker, David James, Chris Ramsey and Emma Barton for the Glitterball Trophy.

Jamie has starred on 'Made in Chelsea' since 2011, and his great-great-grandfather Alexander Grant developed the recipe for the famous McVitie's Digestive biscuit.
