The former 'Top Gear' host splashed out on the limited edition motor last April but struggled to handle all of its snazzy features and had to quickly hop out of the car in order to manually push back the reflectors on the passenger side.

He explained: "The first time I arrived at the garage door I rotated the mirror knob to fold in the mirrors and nothing happened. Each time I park I have to get out to fold the mirrors, and then get back in again."

The 53-year-old presenter bought the sports car, which reaches a speed of 202 mph, after he, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond were promised a three-year contract to host the BBC Two motoring show last year.

He said: "We were all three of us on the brink of a new three-year contract. I decided to reward myself with a new motor from Maranello."

But he soon regretted that spontaneous splurge after the trio were allegedly dropped from the programme following Jeremy's controversial outburst last year.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Then, suddenly, it had all gone. Oh c**k, as I used to say when I was on telly."
