James May is bulldozing two properties to build a £3 million super-mansion.
The 56-year-old TV presenter is building a spectacular new pad complete with a big garage so he can house his collection of 40 motorbikes and luxury cars, which include a Rolls-Royce, limited edition Ferrari 458 Speciale, Porsche 911 and Fiat Panda.
James is expected to move back into the home with his partner Sarah Frater when it is ready in around 12 months.
The 'Grand Tour' co-host got planning permission to build his new plush property and his neighbours have been pleased he has consulted them about his plans.
His next-door-neighbour Cathy Lewis told MailOnline: "James has been really good and given us lots of information.
"This will be really good for our street, will be a big improvement on what was there before and the designs are sympathetic to the area.
"We know it will take a long time with a lot of disruption, but so far, the builders have been great. The new house will look fabulous."
Another neighbour added: "I couldn't wish for a better neighbour than James. He is a delight and has involved us all at every step of the way."
Work began on the house in October - when the majority of buildings were knocked down - and builders on the job say they have been "making good progress".
One workman said: "This is a massive job. It will take more than a year to finish, but we are making good progress.
"We are trying hard to be nice to the neighbours and James is a delight to work for."
