James Buckley thinks he needs therapy because of his "disgusting" lines in 'The Inbetweeners'.
The 35-year-old actor has opened up on his "outrageous" scenes as foul-mouthed Jay Cartwright, who delighted sitcom fans at the time with his over the top stories and wild antics.
However, father-of-two James told the Daily Star newspaper: "The stuff I was saying and the way I was behaving, if I had thought about it for a second, I maybe wouldn't have been able to have performed it with the confidence and oomph it needed to sell it.
"I don't really think about 'The Inbetweeners' that much and I didn't when I was doing it, and I still don't now.
"You know, in 20 years time or something, I might need to go and have some therapy sessions to talk about it, because it has been all suppressed, it really has."
James - who starred alongside Simon Bird, Joe Thomas and Blake Harrison on the show - admitted he still feels bad about one particularly X-rated scene in which he buys an ice cream from an old lady on a seaside school trip, and delivers a lot of sexual innuendos.
He added: "The reality is that's funny on television, really funny, like, 'Oh God, what an outrageous thing to happen'.
"The reality was I was stood here and there was an old lady in front of me and I was saying these disgusting things to her."
Previously, James insisted “there’s not enough money in the world” for him to return to the E4 comedy, which ran for three seasons and spawned two movies.
He said: “I love the boys, I love the writers. Doing 'The Inbetweeners' was the best job in the world.
“All we did was muck around all day long and they filmed us doing it, and, at the end of the day, we might have had an episode … or a film or something.
“But it might – you know, as I’m getting older – it’s looking like it might be the only thing that I do professionally that is universally loved.
“There’s not enough money in the world for me to spoil that.”
