James Arthur is to open up about his mental health struggles in a new TV documentary.

The 33-year-old singer - who shot to fame when he won 'The X Factor' back in 2012 - will explore the stigma of male mental health issues and investigate the growing dependence some men have on anti-depressants.
He said: "It’s been such a special thing to make. Obviously the subject matter is extremely heavy, so it’s been really difficult to hear from blokes who have had the courage to offer up their stories for the film."
The 'Train Wreck' hitmaker went on to insist that male mental health is a topic in need of "more discussion" and admitted it was "humbling" to be able to share his own struggles for the documentary.
He is quoted by The Sun newspaper's TV Biz column as saying: "It’s a topic that undoubtedly needs more discussion — male mental health and our reliance as a nation on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication. I’ve been there myself, so it’s humbling to be a part of something that is going to shed some light on it.”
'James Arthur: Out Of Our Minds' is set to air on the newly relaunched BBC Three later this year, and will follow the singer as he embarks on a UK tour and returns to his home in north east England after spending a decade in London due to his career.
A BBC spokesman said: “We are grateful to James for putting his trust in us to share his story.
"Despite some of the themes the film will explore, we hope it will be full of optimism and will show there is light at the end of the tunnel for people with similar experiences."
