James Arthur has hit back at trolls after he was fat-shamed during 'Soccer Aid'.
The 33-year-old singer played for England during the charity football match last weekend, and he has called for the keyboard warriors to give him "a break" after he was inundated with messages about his size.
He wrote on Twitter: "Cool to see ppl calling me fat on Twitter during socceraid. Giz a break! (sic)"
James admitted he was carrying "a bit of lockdown timber", but reminded trolls he didn't give the ball away a single time during the charity game, and he recently had coronavirus.
He wrote: "I had Covid not long ago was carryin a knee injury and a bit of lockdown timber but I still never gave the ball away once! I’m lookin skinny today coz I was starved of service! Face with tears of joy relax it was for charity x (sic)"
A fan then suggested he could "try to stop looking at the hate and look at all the love and support your fans give you".
James replied: "I do but sometimes it feels right to acknowledge the hate and make people aware of how stupid it is. I’m just being me. I see and appreciate the love too x (sic)"
Prior to the match, James - who shot to fame when he won the ninth series of 'The X Factor' in 2012 - admitted he was "honoured" to be playing in the England XI alongside so many legends.
He wrote: "What an honour to be playing alongside some football legends on the England squad".
Some of the legends playing for England included Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, and David James.
The World XI featured the likes of Usain Bolt and Roberto Carlos.
'Soccer Aid for Unicef' raised more than £13 million for charity.
