Jamelia struggled to return to ‘Hollyoaks’ because of her new baby.
The ‘Superstar’ hitmaker has been cast again in the Channel 4 soap again after she first appeared in it in 2021 as Sharon Bailey, but this time she claims it has been harder due to the late-night breast milk “pumping” sessions but she loves “getting up and going to work” after welcoming her fourth daughter in October.
The 42-year-old star told The Sun newspaper: "If I said it had been a walk in the park, that would be a lie. I've been pumping milk between breaks and doing it through the night to leave milk at home.
"That said, I had a sense of pride that I've been getting up and going to work."
Jamelia - who, along with her little one has four-year-old True with her husband, whose identity she has kept private - called her incredibly “traumatic” c-section when she was 36 weeks into her pregnancy as contraception for her oldest daughters from a previous relationship, Teja, 21, and Tiani, 17.
She said: "It was so scary. I felt like I was in labour for a month, but the main objective was to keep the baby in for as long as possible. I just had to hold on.
"I'd only ever seen a C-section on the telly, and thought: 'Oh well, at least it's going to be straightforward and I'll be out in five minutes.' There's this idea of 'too posh to push' – that it’s the easier option. But I found it incredibly traumatic. And then you’re recovering from major surgery while looking after a newborn."
The former ‘Loose Women’ panellist revealed that her husband - whose identity she has kept hidden from the media - stayed at home with her little one when she was giving birth.
Jamelia explained that as selfish as it might sound, I wanted to share this experience with my girls.”
