Jake Wood thinks Max Branning has "lost the plot" on 'EastEnders'.
The 48-year-old actor - who announced his departure from the BBC soap in September - has claimed Max no longer cares about the consequences of his efforts to win back Linda Carter.
Asked if he's worried about the consequences of crossing Phil Mitchell, Jake told Metro.co.uk: "I don’t think so!
"Not at this point. He’s got his mind set in terms of what he wants to achieve, he wants to get Linda. He thinks that blackmailing Phil will lead to a chain of events that will help him get Linda back. He’s lost the plot in some ways."
Max is still convinced he can get Linda back, but at this point, Jake thinks he's simply deluding himself.
He explained: "He’s deluded in terms of what he wants and what he thinks he can get.
"Linda has been very clear with him in terms of what she wants. She’s made it clear she doesn’t want to have a relationship with him, but Max is not taking no for an answer."
Meanwhile, Jake previously claimed that his time on 'EastEnders' had been a "life-changing" experience.
The actor shared a behind-the-scenes video of his last day on the BBC One soap, after playing Max for 15 years.
Speaking on Instagram in December, Jake said: "It's a strange day for me, this - it's my last on set. It's my last day filming 'EastEnders' after 15 years playing Max Branning. I'll miss the place.
"It's the people really, for me. I met some amazing people, made some amazing friends and had an incredible, life-changing experience.
"Thank you to everyone for all your messages of support and love. I've really appreciated all of that. Who knows what the future brings, but today we say goodbye to Max Branning. It's a bit of a sad day but I wanted to share this with you."
