Jake Wood only has three weeks of 'EastEnders' filming left before his departure.
The 48-year-old star - who plays Max Branning - confirmed earlier this year that he will be leaving the BBC One soap towards the end of 2020, and he cannot wait to get his teeth stuck into new challenges when he exits Albert Square.
He wrote on Twitter: "I am a person that always looks forwards, always asks myself what there is to achieve next. With only 3 weeks left of filming Eastenders these thoughts are at the forefront of my mind. I’m excited for new challenges, new opportunities and for sharing this next chapter with u guys (sic)"
Jake has already started working on one new project, as earlier this month he revealed he has become a director.
He wrote on Instagram: "Absolutely buzzing to be directing a very exciting project. All will be revealed soon peeps (sic)"
Jake - who has played Max for the last 15 years - teased fans he will announce further details of his latest job "soon", and he also shared a "sneak peek" of some of the action.
He wrote: "Little sneak peak of our shoot. First time I’ve ever directed and I’m loving it. Very exciting project. All will be revealed soon peeps
"Excited for you all to see what I have directed and helped create this week, all will be announced soon (sic)"
But 'EastEnders' fans may well get to see Max again in the future, as Jake has revealed the soap's bosses have left the door open for his potential return.
He recently said: "I'll of course miss everyone there, but I'm grateful they have left the door open for Max and I'm excited to see what the next chapter holds."
