Jake Quickenden was “shocked” by Michelle Heaton’s ‘Dancing On Ice’ exit.
The 43-year-old singer - who was partnered up with pro skater Lukasz Rozycki - became the second star of the series to hang up her ice skates on Sunday night (29.01.23), after she received the lowest scores from the judges.
In a brutal format shakeup, presenter Phillip Schofield announced at the start of the show that the skate-off had been axed for “one week only”.
TV personality Jake - who was crowned winner of ‘Dancing on Ice' in 2018, alongside professional skater Vanessa Bauer - told OK!: “I didn't expect it at all. I thought she'd improved massively from last week.
"She seems much more comfortable, much more confident. So I was very surprised how low her scores were.”
Michelle found herself at the bottom of the vote after she received 20 out of a possible 40 points from the judging panel - made up of Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean - which Jake insists was rather “harsh”.
He added: “I think there is a bit of an issue with the scoring, in the way it is, because people are getting 8.5 on week three, I don't really think that any of the dances were worth 8.5.
"Just because we've got so much more ahead of us and then to give Michelle a four, I thought it was a little bit harsh.
“I thought she did much better than she did last week. I definitely don't think she was the weakest. So for me, it was quite surprising and quite shocking, because I wanted her to go on and on and on because I really like Michelle as a person as well. But yeah, I was quite shocked that she went home.”
