The former 'X Factor' star is said to have ruptured his pectoral muscle, which had to be stuck back onto his bone as he underwent a lengthy operation.

A source told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: “Jake ended up being in surgery for five hours on Monday as the injury he sustained on SAS was worse than thought.

“His pectoral muscle was ruptured and had to be glued back to his bone.

“Jake won’t be doing any physical sport or exercise for up to six months and will have to wear a sling for at least two months."

Although it's said Jake, 32, suspected he wouldn't be allowed to return to Scotland to finish filming the gruelling reality show, the injury is still "devastating".

The insider added: "It’s a devastating blow for him. In his heart he knew he wouldn’t be able to return to 'SAS' but having been told by the doctors the extent of the injury it’s really hit home.”

On Tuesday (03.11.20), Jake shared a couple of snaps from his hospital bed and tried to make light of his situation.

Posing with his right leg in the air wearing a hospital gown, he joked: "I asked for fishnets and they said no....

"I’ve never felt so sexy, do you wear underwear in the gowns..... asking for a mate!!

"Operation operation is about to get underway, see you in a few hours!! Much love Jacob (sic)"

In another photo, he gave the thumbs-up to the camera with a tray of food in front of him as he lay in bed.

He wrote: "Straight out, straight on that club sandwich. Op went well ended up being under four hours!!

"Pretty high right now but we good!! Road to recovery begins.... blesses (sic)"
