Jacques O'Neill "couldn't leave the house" after appearing on 'Love Island'.
The 23-year-old rugby league player appeared on the hit ITV2 reality dating show in July but quit shortly after the Casa Amor stage, and has now told how his mum Janet begged him to depart the Mallorca villa and come home.
Speaking on the 'Learning About Judgement' podcast, he told former 'Love Island' star Scott Thomas: "The hardest thing was ... sorry, mate. Just seeing my mum, how she was. Seeing her in a state. I couldn't leave the house. [She was struggling] with the death threats. When I got out the villa, I had to go into a holding villa.
"My mum was like, 'Get out, Jacques. Just get out right now, get home. Just leave.'
"I was kicking off and was saying, 'Get me a flight right now, I just want to be with my mum.' I knew she was in a bad place, she was breaking down on the phone."
Jacques went on to explain that when he got home to his mum in Cumbria, the pair had to stay at home because "everyone hated him" after he had kissed Cheyanne Kerr during Casa Amor, while he was in a couple with fellow contestant Paige Thorne.
He added: "When I got home, she went, 'Jacques, we can't go out. We can't go out. Like, everyone hates you.' I just wanted me and my mum to be OK.
"I was so numb after the villa. It killed me to see the way my mum was.
"I couldn't speak to her about deep stuff because I'd just break down. It took me two weeks to give her a cuddle."
