Internet sensation Jackie Weaver has thrown her support behind Brixton Brewery’s newest beer in a bid to raise money for an elderly charity.
The 62-year-old chief officer of the Cheshire Association of Local Councils went viral earlier this year when a clip from a parish council meeting was leaked online, and Jackie is now using her new-found fame to help launch Generation Pale Ale and raise much-needed funds for Age UK.
Jackie said: "Lockdown has affected everyone, no matter what situation you are in, so I’m delighted to support a worthy cause whilst enjoying a delicious beer!
"I’ve been fortunate to meet loads new people, both famous and regular, wonderful people, but others haven’t been as fortunate. So in aid of them I ask everyone to come together and raise a can for your gran!"
All proceeds from the limited-edition beer will go towards funding schemes for the elderly, with Age UK members having already approved the brew and its vibrant design.
Graham Gardiner, the CEO of Age UK Lambeth, said: "It is not every day we get asked if we would like to help create a new beer. We have nothing but praise for Brixton Brewery for bringing us on board, paying homage to our members and helping us to raise money to continue vital services for 70,000 people in Lambeth.
"We hope beer lovers fall in love with Generation Pale Ale and the wider campaign inspires more people to reach out to their elderly locals. There’s a wonderful story in everyone!"
Generation Pale Ale - which costs just £2.65 - is available from the Brixton Brewery website and the company's taproom in the heart of Brixton.
