Jack Whitehall says a ‘Celebrity Juice’ stint “embarrassed” his father Michael, which led to him changing his outlook on TV appearances.
The ‘Travels With My Father’ star admitted that his Netflix co-star dad, 83 - who is a famed theatre agent, with clients such as Nigel Havers, 71, Dame Judi Dench, 88, and Colin Firth, 62 - called him after watching the ex Keith Lemon-fronted ITV2 comedy panel show, and told his son it was "one of the most embarrassing things he’d ever seen".
The 35-year-old comedian told the Radio Times magazine that his dad gave him a talking to and advised him to tell his agent to "be more forthright about what was good and bad for me to do".
Jack added: "It was quite a seminal moment in terms of me going, 'OK, maybe I need to be a bit more selective.' "
The ‘Bad Education’ star - who is expecting his first child with his model girlfriend Roxy Horner, 32 - admitted that during 'Celebrity Juice' filming in 2008 he just "sat there in silence and had the p*** taken out of [him]" throughout.
What's more, Jack has told how working with his dad - who has been married to Jack’s mother Hilary, 62, since 1986 and also has daughter Molly, 34, and son Barnaby, 31 - can bring an “added level of stress”.
Jack said: "There is a slight lack of professionalism – they are your parents and you talk to each other slightly differently from how you would talk to a regular colleague.”
The ‘Fresh Meat’ star admitted his dad’s “foibles” can be “irksome”.
Jack said: "You are trying to create something and get it done, and certain members of your family want to be finished filming at four o’clock, need an hour off at lunch and insist on having a glass of wine."
