Jack P. Shepherd claims 'Coronation Street' turned him into a "recluse".

The 25-year-old actor has played bad boy hairdresser David Platt in the ITV soap since he was 11, but believes starring in the popular programme from such a young age has turned him into a hermit and forced him to mature before his time.

He said: "Because you're always around adults, you have to grow up fast - which is why I'm basically a 48-year-old man now. I don't go out anywhere - I'm like a recluse."

Jack - who is expecting his second child with his fiancée Lauren Shippey - admits he prefers going home and relaxing with his family after a day of filming rather than heading out for a drunken night on the town with his pals.

He added: "I just sneak off, go home and look at my lines, or go to the cinema and watch a film. And obviously I'm busy at home now, too."

The hunky star claims he's nothing like his psycho character, who most recently went on a rampage after discovering his half brother Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) had an affair with his wife Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) and might be the father to his unborn child.

Speaking to The Evening Times, he said: "I can look with scary eyes, but I still wouldn't be able to knock a fly out."
