The programme has been ditched by the broadcaster after six series, and follows ITV's recent decision to scrap 'Take Me Out' after 11 years on the air.

A source told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "Since last year's series, there have been discussions over the future of Through The Keyhole and now it's been decided to ditch it.

"The show lasted for a while - almost seven years. But ITV are keen to focus on other ideas. The Masked Singer has proved new formats can work."

The programme was rebooted with Keith Lemon - whose real name is Leigh Francis - as the host in 2013, having previously been fronted by Sir David Frost and Lloyd Grossman.

Since then, a number of high-profile stars have featured on the show - which sees a studio panel try to guess the owner of a home based on its contents - including the likes of Carmen Electra, Pamela Anderson and Katie Price.

At its peak, the show was attracting an audience of around five million viewers - but its popularity has fallen in recent years.

Meanwhile, an ITV source recently insisted 'Take Me Out' was a significant success, despite the broadcaster opting to axe the dating programme.

The insider shared: "As with many shows, ratings have slid a bit in recent years. But it will go down as a big success - it's had more weddings than 'Blind Date'."
