ITV have announced today that Jimmy Rose is to be the focus of a new three-part drama titled The Trials of Jimmy Rose.
At 64 years of age, Jimmy has spent more time behind bars than with his love Jackie and their two adult children, Jason and Julie, as well as grandchildren Elliot, Ellie and India.
Shattered memories due to years of abandonment leave Jimmy feeling rotten - Jackie isn't sure she still loves him and his son Jason has cut his father completely from his life, happy to have nothing more to do with him.
Moving on with their lives, Jimmy isn't sure he can do the same, putting his criminal life behind him and regaining their live and respect by being the family man they deserve.
The drama goes into production mid-October, filming in the Manchester area.
Kieran Roberts, ITV Studios Creative Director of Drama in Manchester said, “The Trials of Jimmy Rose is a warm, funny and compelling drama about a family man with a criminal past who has to prove it’s never too late to start over. We can’t wait to start shooting in Manchester this autumn and are very excited about bringing Alan Whiting’s wonderful story and characters to the screen for ITV.“
Casting news is expected closer to the commencement of production.
