Idris Elba says a 'Luther' film could happen.
The 43-year-old actor admits a big screen adventure for his character DCI John Luther is on his wish list and four very successful TV series he is hopeful it will happen.
Speaking on 'This Morning', Idris said: "A film is on the wish list. I think John Luther could transfer really well to a film. We haven't quite got there yet, but yeah man, it could happen."
If a movie doesn't get the green light then the 'Jungle Book' star is happy to shoot another series for BBC One, despite his huge success in Hollywood.
When asked if he wants to return to the character on the small screen, said: "I'd like to. The audience loved John Luther and I don't think the story's over yet."
The police drama follows the exploits of DCI Luther as he tackles the underbelly of criminality in London, often with violent and harrowing results.
Idris has earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of the inspector on both sides of the Atlantic and has been awarded a Critics' Choice Television Award, Golden Globe Award, NAACP Image Award and Screen Actors Guild Award for his portrayal of Luther.
His success in the role have put him in the frame to take over from Daniel Craig as the next James Bond, but is still adamant it's not going to happen.
He said: "There is no Bond - it's just a rumour."
However, he happily admits that he would love to play the British spy, saying: "Who wouldn't? Everyone would I suppose."
