The 66-year-old star's evil alter-ego Geoff, who has been abusing wife Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King) for months, finally got his comeuppance last night when he fell off a roof to his death, and the actor has heaped praise on his co-stars Shelley and Sair Khan (Alya Nazir).

When asked how he feels about his time on 'Corrie' coming to an end, he replied: "Sad. But at the same time, I've been watching this since I was tiny and to be here as a part of that very special celebration is very humbling.

"And I'm very proud of the work we have all done - the writers and the directors, everybody.

"I've loved working with Shelley and Sair, and thank you so much for making me feel so welcome at the beginning.

"It's been a fantastic ride and a fantastic part."

Shelley also praised Ian, admitting her working relationship with him has been one of the "best" on-screen partnerships of her life.

Speaking on an episode of 'Corrie's Good News' on the soap's YouTube channel, she said: "It's been one of the best times and partnerships in my working life.

"To be with you, to trust you, to have a laugh with you, to cry with you, to have a glass of red wine with you."

Geoff was up on the roof scurrying after Yasmeen when he slipped to his death - and her chickens got some revenge on him as they began pecking away next to his head as he lay dead on the grass.

The revenge act came after the evil magician previously killed Yasmeen's favourite clucker, Charlotte Bronte, and forced her to eat the bird.
