Simon Minty was ridiculed for his dwarfism by a group of tweens.
The 55-year-old TV star - who has appeared on the Channel 4 show 'Gogglebox' since 2021 alongside his sister Jane and is known for his witty quips about the week’s most talked about telly - swiftly told the pack of preteen boys to “grow up” when they laughed at him for stature outside the supermarket and found some solidarity with the shop’s security and a “special pal”.
He wrote on Twitter: "Today, some 12yo boys came up to me to point and laugh. I said ‘grow up’.
"I carried on shopping, which took some courage as they followed me.
"Nearly spoke with shop security, it was that horrible. Left for the safety of Waitrose, bumped in to a special friend and rallied."(sic)
Simon noticed a few of the gobby kids were being cajoled by “peer pressure” to bully him and urged everyone to not follow along with the crowd and “stand up for what you believe” in similar situations.
He added: "There was some peer pressure going on too. I was going to tell them ‘one or more of you isn’t comfortable with what you’re doing right now, stand up for what you believe and you will have a better life than the others’."
Simon has also used social media to share times when he’s been feeling himself like during last year’s festive period he posted on social media: "Caught myself in the lift mirror and advocated the importance of loving yourself after getting his “Christmas hair”.
Not long finished at the gym, glasses slightly dark, Christmas hair and stubble as it’s been a non-work week.
"For a moment, I felt like I looked like a rock star. Involuntary I then pouted #caughtoncamera #loveyourselffirst."
