Calum Lill has been cast in ‘Coronation Street’.
The actor played PC Carlton Smith in the Channel 4 soap 'Hollyoaks' in 2021 but has now signed up to appear in ITV1's flagship soap opera as duty solicitor Joel Deering, a character tasked with assisting Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) and is expected to get close to Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) during his stint on the show, which will begin next week.
A telly insider told The Sun newspaper on Wednesday (30.08.23),: "Calum’s been filming for a few weeks and his character couldn’t be more different from PC Smith on Hollyoaks.
"He’ll be on screen next week as part of Dee-Dee’s new storyline."
Calum - who will be joining the soap for a “few weeks” - admitted that he was nearly “homeless” during the COVID-19 lockdown due to the shutdown of the television industry.
He told the ‘Me, Myself and Hopefully You…?’ podcast in 2021: "Most actors, despite being professional actors, you still have to have a job to do, between jobs. Unless you're in the top one per cent. It's a hustle. That's what a lot of theatre actors struggle with. They love theatre, but it only pays enough to cover your rent while in you're in the job...You've then got to go back to waiting tables."
Recently, Lauren - whose consequences of her actions after she was arrested for tearing up the local salon in a jealous rage after being led to believe Max Turner (Paddy Bevar) and Sabrina Adetiba (Luana Santos)- and Caitt believes “there always be” something between her character and Max.
She told the Express newspaper: “I think there is unfinished business with Max and Lauren. I think there always will be. There will always be love there, there will always be feelings there because they share the same trauma.”
