'Hollyoaks' star Erin Palmer's mum has been drafted in to be a body double for Sarah Jayne Dunn on the soap - to get around social distancing.
Sarah, who plays Mandy Morgan on the Channel 4 soap, has revealed the show has enlisted the actress' real-life mother to take her place in scenes where Mandy is seen stroking Erin's character Ella Richardson's hair amid the hard-hitting County Lines story.
She said: "Erin's mum, bless, has been my hand double a couple of times, putting her hand on a shoulder and stroking her hair so there's some physical contact, as long as we can keep telling the story.
"I think it gives another dynamic to Mandy in that, there's this desperation."
Ella recently confessed to Mandy that she accidentally killed drug dealer Jordan Price (Connor Calland) on New Year's Eve, and Sarah admitted it has been "really challenging" not to be able to embrace in the emotional scenes due to the pandemic.
She added to MailOnline: "What I've found really challenging about this storyline is that we can't have any physical contact and we have to keep a two metre distance and that's been a real challenge, because maternally all I've wanted to do is envelope Ella and cuddle her and protect her and I've not been able to do that so it's been a real challenge."But it's been a good thing because it's made us think outside the box, there's been camera trickery to make us look closer together."
