Sarah Jayne Dunn finds it "weird" when her husband acts as a body double on 'Hollyoaks'.
The 39-year-old actress' significant other Jonathan Smith - who she shares four-year-old son Stanley with - has been a stand-in for her character Mandy Morgan's partner Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson), but she found it strange because her personal life was suddenly part of her work.
She said: "It was odd as it crosses that line between Mandy’s world and my world.
"Suddenly I’m there facing my husband as Mandy and it feels weird.
"But we need that intimacy in the scenes. It meant we could have a hug rather than look at each other awkwardly."
But Sarah - who has played Mandy on the Channel 4 soap since 1996 - insisted Jonathan was ideal for the body double role because he has a background in acting.
She added to the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "He enjoyed it. He was an actor as well and we met when we did a theatre production.
"He was the perfect person to get in as he’s not fazed by it."
Sarah recently revealed her 'Hollyoaks' co-star Erin Palmer's mum has been drafted in to be a body double for her on the show.
She said: "Erin's mum, bless, has been my hand double a couple of times, putting her hand on a shoulder and stroking her hair so there's some physical contact, as long as we can keep telling the story.
"I think it gives another dynamic to Mandy in that, there's this desperation."
