Claire Cooper is returning to Hollyoaks as Jacqui McQueen

The 43-year-old actress is best known for playing Jacqui McQueen in the Channel 4 soap from 2006 to 2013, and it has now been confirmed she will make a "one-episode return" this winter.

'Hollyoaks' said: "We can confirm that 'Hollyoaks' royalty, Jacqui McQueen, played by Claire Cooper, will be putting in her hoop earrings for a one-episode return."

The character's return to the village was also revealed in the soap's new winter trailer, in which her sister Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) runs into Jacqui in church as she turns to prayer for answers about what to do in her latest predicament.

Jacqui says: "Mother of Mercy, what have you got yourself into this time love, eh?"

A shocked Mercedes responds: "Jacqui?!"

Earlier in the trailer, Mercedes is seen speaking on the phone and tells the caller: "I'm pregnant, engaged and I don't know who the dad is because I've been messing around."

Jacqui was last seen in 2013 when she left the village for Spain, after conning a gangster out of £50,000.

Claire has three-year-old son Ocean, and 12-month-old daughter Fiáin with her former 'Hollyoaks' co-star husband Emmett J. Scanlan.

The couple lost a baby in July 2019, and Claire nearly lost her life.

Speaking about the tragedy in October 2020, to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week, Claire said at the time: "It’s baby loss awareness week and although I wasn’t quiet about our loss privately, I didn’t share it with the public, mainly I didn’t have the words at that time perhaps I still don’t but if this post helps one family or person out there, perhaps my words were worth the wait...or not.

"We lost our little soul July 2019 the devastation was unreal, the day came when my body let go of what I’d fought so hard to keep. Little did we know that I myself would also end up in a precarious situation strapped to machines fighting - it truly was hard enough losing our baby but to then fight for my own life was something else. I lost over a third of my blood my recovery was painfully slow. Instantly anaemic and instantly heartbroken. (sic)"
