Belinda Owusu is "off being a mummy" after bidding farewell to 'Holby City'.
The 31-year-old actress - who has appeared as Nicky McKendrick on the BBC show since 2017 and also played the role in 'Casualty' in 2019 - has stepped away from the medical serial drama after recently revealing her pregnancy, and she's focusing on motherhood.
After her character's final scenes aired on Tuesday (30.03.21), the programme's official Twitter account wrote: "I have something in my eye. We'll miss you Dr McKendrick @therealowusu #HolbyCity HR (sic)"
Belinda replied: "Aww you guys.. miss you all... The Holby family is like no other! Thank you to everyone for your lovely comments.
"I had the best time playing Nicky, but now I’m off being a mummy (yep- the bump was real). Bye for now x (Sic)"
Last month, the former 'EastEnders' star took to Instagram to surprise her followers with the news she was 40 weeks pregnant.
Posting a picture of her bump, Belinda wrote: “Ready when you are, kid #40weeks (sic)”
Belinda’s co-stars were quick to offer their congratulations, with Chizzy Akulolu offering her services as her ‘Holby City’ character Mo Effanga.
She said: "Can’t wait. Let me know if you need Dr Mo by your side. (sic)”
This week, her character Nicky decided to end her pregnancy after discovering her boyfriend Cameron Dunn (Nic Jackman) was a serial killer, with their whole relationship being a lie.
However, a scare with the baby made her re-evaluate her plan and instead she decided to leave and raise her child on her own.
Prior to her role in the BBC medical drama, Belinda was known for playing Libby Fox in ‘EastEnders’ between 2006 and 2010.
Her character made a guest appearance in 2014 for the beginning of the ‘Who Killed Lucy Beale?’ storyline, and then made various cameos up until January 2017.
