Helen Skelton says taking part in 'Strictly Come Dancing' has made her feel more "in control."
The 39-year-old presenter called time on her marriage to rugby star Richie Myler, 32, earlier this year after almost a decade together and explained that taking part in the BBC Latin and ballroom has given her a newfound "confidence."
She said: "I have definitely found my confidence on the dance floor. I enjoy it. It has been about being sassy and powerful and being in control. It’s a wonderfully freeing thing for anybody when they feel in control of what they’re doing. It’s about being confident in your own skin and who you are. "It’s been a wonderfully liberating thing to just be happy in your own skin and your own shoes."
The former 'Blue Peter' star has reached the final of 'Strictly Come Dancing' and - along with professional partner Gorka Marquez - is due to compete against CBBC's Molly Rainford, 'Countryfile' host Hamza Yassin and pop singer Fleur East for the Glitterball Trophy on Sunday (18.12.22) went on to add that feedback from her fans has "kept her going" throughout the competition and hopes that her time on the show has inspired followers to take on new challenges in life.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: "Every week we get so many messages from people who share things about their life… women, men and everything in between. That’s what has kept us going. If one person has thought, ‘I’ll take on a new challenge,’ then we’ve done our job.
