Helen Flanagan wants a role on Dowton Abbey.

The former 'Coronation Street' star - who left the cobbles in 2012 to explore her modelling career - wants to return to her childhood routes of acting and hopes that the period drama has a place for her.

She said: "I'd love to do that ['Downton Abbey']. I'd love to do theatre. I just really want to get back into acting really."

The blonde beauty doesn't want to turn her back on modelling completely, but is determined to expand her acting career in 2014.

She explained: "Yeah that's what I really wanted to do in the New Year, I really wanted to concentrate on acting. I mean I love my modelling, I really do enjoy it but I just want to focus on my acting next year."

Meanwhile, Helen has been trying to get herself back into shape in time for the New Year and is attempting to stick to an all-vegan diet in order to shed some extra pounds.

Speaking at The Sun Military Awards, she said: "I have a nutritionist at the moment which is really good called the Green Goddess Life and you have an all vegan diet and juices and stuff. So she's really really good my nutritionist."

The Sun Military Awards will air on December 16, at 9pm on ITV.
