Helen Flanagan was driven to a nose job by years of bullying.

The 'Coronation Street' beauty - who was recently voted the UK's Sexiest Woman in FHM magazine - reportedly turned to cosmetic surgery because of "cruel" comments when she was younger.

A close friend told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "She was still racked with self doubt. She was bullied throughout her school days about the size of her nose and it really affected her badly.

"Kids can be so cruel and some of what was said to her was incredibly hurtful.

"Being on 'Corrie' meant she had nowhere to hide and any insecurities she had were made ten times worse because she was being broadcast to the nation almost every night of the week."

Helen, 22, had delayed the surgery "for years" out of fear and apparently has no regrets despite the "painful" procedure.

The insider added: "If the truth be told she has wanted to get a nose job for years, but she's always been scared of going under the knife.

"She finally plucked up the courage and flew out to a foreign clinic at the start of last month. She was absolutely terrified before the op and there were points when she thought about pulling out.

"But she went through with it and, while it was incredibly painful, she is absolutely thrilled with the results. She thinks she looks great and is really proud of her new nose."
