Hayley Tamaddon once got hit by a woman in the street after her character on Emmerdale ran off with £20,000.
The 36-year-old star was struck with a handbag when her former soap alter-ego Delilah Dingle - who she played from 2005 to 2007 - did a runner with the cash in one of the ITV soap's storylines, and as a result the brunette beauty she still gets worried about being spotted by people while out and about.
She said: "When I played Delilah, a mum hit me with a handbag because I ran away with £20,000.
"She gave me a right cracking wallop! Who knows what will happen! I do get nervous of the whole recognition thing sitting on the train. It scares the s**t out of me.
"I have learned my lessons, though, and there are things that I did during 'Emmerdale' that I won't do this time around. I am older now."
Hayley - who will take part in the final series of 'Dancing on Ice' next year - is to star in 'Coronation Street' as new character Andrea, one of Steve McDonald's (Simon Gregson) college friends, and while she was nervous about her first scenes on the soap, she soon settled in thanks to Simon and Craig Charles, who plays Lloyd Mullaney.
She added to The Sun newspaper: "My first scene was in the Rovers and they really threw me in at the deep end.
"But Simon is a laugh a minute and he and Craig are always trying to make me giggle. They are really fun guys to work with and they took me to the pub on the first night."
