Harry Hill used to get “drunk” to watch ‘TV Burp’.
The 58-year-old comedian used to “force” his daughters Winfred, Frederica and Kitty to watch his beloved comedy show on a Saturday night before being properly sozzled to enjoy the 2000s talent show, ‘The X Factor’ after he began penning the next week's episode.
Speaking to fellow comedian Rob Brydon on his podcast ‘Brydon And' podcast he said: “I’d start writing ‘TV Burp’ on a Saturday.
“Then I’d go downstairs, have a few drinks with the family, and we’d watch ‘TV Burp’ because I’d write it a week ahead.
“I’d force the kids to watch it. Then after ‘TV Burp’ was ‘The X Factor’. So I would watch the ‘The X Factor’, but I’d be drunk.”
Last month, Harry admitted that his show - which ran from 2001 to 2012 - was actually ‘quite harsh” and eventually people stopped letting him use footage from their programmes like telly chef Jamie Oliver, 48.
He said: “We always used to say it was a celebration.
“But the truth is, if you look at it, some of it was quite harsh.
“I think we did go a bit far. After a while, Jamie Oliver didn’t let us any clips of his shows."
The former 'You've Been Framed’ host also revealed that he gets asked if he is reviving the fan favourite show - which came to an end in 2012 after a decade on air - “at least once a day” on the internet but would need bosses to ask to do the honour.
Harry said: “I get asked to bring it back at least once a day. If you go on social media, I get comments asking for it to come back.”.
“That would have to be the first step. And ITV hasn’t done that.”
