Harry Hill offered 'TV Burp' to Peter Kay but he "didn't fancy it".
The 54-year-old comic has been toying with the idea of bringing back the popular comedy TV review show with a new format for some time now, and he has revealed he asked the 'Peter Kay's Car Share' star if he'd like to take on the role as host after he axed his live tour due to "unforeseen family circumstances" in December.
Harry told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "It took up my entire life. I'd start watching telly at 9am, take half an hour break for lunch and get back to it.
"Other than going to record the show, I never really left the house. I asked Peter to take over but he didn't fancy it."
The original series ran from 2001 to 2012 which saw him rate the past week's television, recreate scenes in comic sketches and entertain celebrity guests.
The 'You've Been Framed' narrator also revealed he offered the job to stand-up comic Micky Flanagan.
He said: "I get asked about 'TV Burp' daily. I was at the BBC filming it and bumped into Micky Flanagan.
"He said, 'Are you here doing 'TV Burp'? I love it'.
I said, 'Well, do you want to take it on?' But it didn't work out. He was too busy."
Harry previously admitted it would be great if it came back with guest presenters.
He told BANG Showbiz: "I wouldn't do 'TV Burp' again. But I think they should bring it back with someone else. Someone mad enough to do it! Maybe guest presenters..."
Meanwhile, the children's author has ruled out ever appearing on ITV's 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!'.
He said: "I got offered the jungle but I didn't fancy it.
"If you see me doing that, you know things have gone a bit wrong."
