Gotham established itself as a show very much for the villains of the DC Universe as well as the heroes and everything in-between, and it looks as if two big names are headed to the series.
Speaking at the TCA summer press tour, executive producers Ken Woodruff and John Stephens hinted that 'proto versions' of Harley Quinn and Killer Croc were likely to appear on the show at some point in the future.
Judging by the way in which Harley was being spoken about during the presentation, it doesn't seem that we should expect her at any point in the upcoming third season, but the series has surprised before.
Woodruff did comment however a little more openly on Croc, explaining: "The Indian Hill that exists in Gotham, that's the bridge to these villains like Killer Croc and Solomon Grundy."
As for Harley, she may be on the backburner whilst the showrunners continue to establish the Joker as a huge threat to Gotham.
Stephens said: "It's about developing the myth of the Joker, just like we're developing the myth of Batman. It's so we can stretch him over multiple seasons.
"The cult of the Joker began, and we'll explore how that deepens and changes this year. There are underground movements where they talk about Jerome."
Gotham season 3 premieres on FOX in the US on Monday, September 19 and is expected to return to the UK on Channel 5 at some point thereafter.
