Gregg Wallace gets into the spirit early on Christmas Day by having his first drink by 6:30am.
The 57-year-old ‘MasterChef’ judge has revealed he and his Italian wife Anna, 36, enjoy their “first drink when opening presents" as they make the most of the big day, while he won't be helping prepare the festive feast on December 25.
In an interview with Radio Times magazine, he said: “We have our first drink when opening presents at about 6.30am.
“I do drinks while Anna and her mum do the food. I don’t even suggest helping out. My wife chooses not to work and says, ‘If it’s inside the front door, darling, it’s my responsibility.'
“It’s a matriarchal household and every year I buy one present for my wife and she buys all the others. She takes charge of everything.”
Anna’s parents have recently moved into the family home where they spend the holidays together, and Gregg enjoys Christmas with his wife and the in-laws as he tucks into several different joints of meat and finishes off with five puddings.
The father-of-three has been married to Anna - whom he first met in 2013 when she was working as a caterer - since 2016, the couple share a two-year-old son Sid.
The happy couple crossed paths when she contacted him on social media to ask whether rhubarb really went with duck.
He previously admitted: "I just looked at Anna's photo and thought, 'Wow, she's pretty,'"
The pair soon bonded over their love of food and began exchanging messages before meeting in London for dinner, and then getting engaged in 2014 before tying the knot two years later.
Gregg said: "Meeting Anna has brought me what I think I've always been searching for – that big, warm family dynamic and there's real strength in that."
