Gregg Wallace broke down in tears over a trifle on 'Masterchef.'
The 57-year-old TV star - who has served as a judge on the BBC cooking show alongside John Torode since 2005 - was so moved when a contestant made a trifle because it reminded him so much of his grandmother, according to his co-star.
John told The Daily Star newspaper: “We get emotional and I think you can’t help but get emotional. I remember Gregg once having a trifle and tasting this trifle and having tears just streaming down his face. He said it just reminded him of his grandmother. It was just one of those great moments. When you eat it and it puts a smile on your face, then the language is already there. It doesn’t need words.”
Meanwhile, John - who has been married to former 'Brookside' actress Lisa Faulkner and fronts 'John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen' with her on ITV - recently admitted that he and Gregg tend not to see each other outside of work and only meet up for "the odd lunch."
He said: "It's an interesting dynamic because we're so different. But that's what makes it work so well. We're very independent from each other. We don't hang out with each other outside work apart from the odd lunch. We have our own tastes in clothes, music and art and I suppose we can disagree on all those things like we do on a lot of the things we taste. Something we do agree on is that when food is cooked really
well and presented beautifully, it's a fantastic thing And that's been the success of the show, I think."
