Gregg Wallace insists he "did what any bloke would do" by hitting a man who was "disrespectful" to his girlfriend.
The 'Masterchef' host claims magazine boss Paul Bates was making "inappropriate comments" to blonde beauty Anne-Marie Sterpini and allegedly touched her bum while the pair were dining at a 'Dinner with Gregg Wallace' event at the Wood Norton Hotel in Evesham, Worcestershire, south west England.
He said: "This guy touched Anne-Marie's bum and made some inappropriate comments.
"I'm not the sort of bloke who lets something like that go. It's completely disrespectful. What guy can say they would stand for that happening to their girlfriend?
"I get very passionate about these things. I did what any bloke would do."
However, Paul - who owns Cotswold Style Magazine in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, south west England - denies allegedly groping Anne-Marie, insisting he was merely "chatting" to the 27-year-old stunner when the 48-year-old former greengrocer turned on him "out of the blue".
He said: "I had my daughter with me. We had dinner and adjourned to the bar and I was chatting with Gregg's girlfriend.
"He just turned on me and pushed me across the room and I fell on a table.
"But later, he gave me an apology and we had a couple of whiskies together. It was something and nothing."
A spokesman for Gregg said: "Gregg and Anne-Marie's memory of the incident differs to Mr Bates'.
"Perhaps he was unaware his comments and actions made Anne-Marie feel very uncomfortable.
"As in previous statements we have made clear that the situation was resolved on the night.
"Both parties would like to put the incident behind them and move on."
Police are to "make enquiries" about the incident, but admit they are yet to receive any allegations of assault.
A spokeswoman for West Mercia Police said: "This incident has not been reported to us and we have not received allegations of assault.
"However, since we have been made aware, we will be making enquiries to establish exactly what happened and if there are any complaints to investigate."
