Gregg Wallace was involved in a restaurant punch-up.
The 'Masterchef' judge shocked onlookers by grabbing a fellow diner and allegedly punching him five times as they fell to the floor during a posh meal at the Wood Norton Hotel in Evesham, Worcestershire, south west England.
An eye-witness told The Sun newspaper: "There was blood everywhere. Gregg was pummelling this poor guy and appeared to be in a drunken frenzy."
Guests - who had paid £225 each - were enjoying a five-course luxury dining experience when Gregg, 48, exploded over comments purportedly made to his 27-year-old girlfriend Anne-Marie Sterpini.
He was heard screeching, "Don't f***ing speak to my girlfriend like that," as he attacked the man - who is believed to be in his late 50s - and was escorted out by security.
The chef was reportedly acting erratically before the fight broke out, and appeared "very self-important" as he gave a number of speeches and spent time chatting to each table.
Alison King, a PR manager, said: "He has such a loud voice and was saying the exact same story at each table."
Her pal Claire Shepley added: "It was always the same joke, 'My girlfriend, who is 27, asked me to run upstairs and have sex with her the other day and I said, look love, it is either one thing or the other at my age.' "
A friend of Gregg's claim he was provoked by the man.
They said: "Gregg was enjoying a lovely evening with Anne-Marie and someone crossed the line. He is an incredibly passionate man and absolutely adores his girlfriend. He is very protective over her and will always defend her honour - that's just the way he is.
"It shouldn't have happened, but as far as Gregg is concerned he was provoked. He just wants to move on from this and put it behind him."
However, some reports claim Gregg was enraged because the man had touched Anne-Marie's bum.
A friend of the celebrity chef told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "He was defending his girlfriend's honour because the man had made inappropriate advances.
"He groped her bottom. Anne-Marie was horrified and so was Gregg."
