Greg Wise paid tribute to his late sister with an emotional Couple's Choice dance on tonight's (02.10.21) 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The 55-year-old actor - who is married to Dame Emma Thompson - brought head judge Shirley Ballas close to tears with his moving disco routine to 'If You Could Read My Mind' with his pro dance partner Karen Hauer, which he dedicated to his late sibling, Clare, who sadly died from cancer five years ago.
Before taking to the stage, Greg shared the heartbreaking story of his sibling's battle with the disease and her devastatingly late prognosis in an emotional VT.
He said: "So I want to dedicate it to my sister, the 'Disco Diva'.
"Family is fantastically important...
"An extremely important part of the family was my sister Clare.
"My sister was first diagnosed with breast cancer. And she had the brutal treatment of chemotherapy but I don't think she was out of the woods, because it wasn't found out until quite late on, that in fact, she had got bone cancer. And she died just over a year after her diagnosis."
Greg admitted it was a "privilege" to care for his sister.
He said: "It's one of the hardest things when you are with someone you love, witnessing their pain and their fear and what you're able to do to mitigate that."
The 'Outcast' star added: "I think my sister will be absolutely thrilled that I'm doing this because of her. And I hope that she will be laughing like crazy."
The performance was met with praise from Shirley, Anton du Beke and Motsi Mabuse, with the former hailing the routine "moving".
