Graham Norton is returning to his Irish roots for a new comedy show.
The 60-year-old star was born in County Dublin but moved to London in the 1980s to pursue a career in entertainment and is "thrilled" to be returning to his homeland as he takes on hosting duties for a new show that will see 10 Irish comedy stars try not to make each other laugh in what will become Amazon Prime's first original Irish production.
He said: "I'm thrilled to be the host for the first Irish Original, LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland on Prime Video, and to be working on home ground for the first time in many, many years. I'm so proud of our comedy culture and it's wonderful to have a platform to showcase Irish talent to a global audience. I can't wait to see what our comedy masterminds do to get the laughter going!"
'LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland' is the latest adaptation of the successful Amazon Original series in Japan entitled 'Documental', following on from adaptations in Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, India, and Brazil and Dan Grabiner, head of Originals for UK Northern Europe, Amazon Studios, thinks that chat show favourite Graham is the perfect one to host the series.
He said: "Graham Norton and Last One Laughing is a match made in heaven. Ireland is home to world-class comedy and a booming television scene; we can’t wait to celebrate and be part of that with our first Irish Original production."
'LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland' will be filmed in the spring and will air as a six-part series later this year.
