The 'Gogglebox' pair have confirmed the company running The Salutation - a Grade I-listed manor house - will be liquidated with guests' deposits lost, and 33 workers sent home after it shut its doors in January.

Dom told The Sun newspaper: "We are sorry to confirm that The Salutation Hotel Ltd, which has been managing The Salutation, has indeed become insolvent.

"We are in discussions with other interested parties and we aim to have the hotel back up and running very soon, under new management."

The hotel - situation in Sandwich, Kent - had been run by John and Dorothy Fothergill, who leased it from the Parkers.

Steph and Dom have owned the property - and its 3.7 acre estate - since 2004, and in 2017 they turned it into a hotel after finding success on 'Gogglebox' since first appearing on the Channel 4 show in 2013.

The restaurant was run by Michelin-starred chef Shane Hughes, and the gardening team was was recognised for its talents at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2016.

However, just last week, Dom admitted they were looking to sell The Salutation, adding: "We are just too old and exhausted and don't have the energy to run it any more."

Steph said: "I'd love to do 'Strictly' but, lamentably, I never could because I have a very rickety spine and I'm prone to falling down a lot."

And her husband Dom revealed he would love to compete in 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' but fears his picky eating habits would stop him.

He said: "I love 'I'm A Celebrity'... but I would never do it as I'm a very picky eater."
