GoCompare has launched TikTok auditions to find stars for its Christmas Day advert.

The price comparison site is offering fans around the UK the chance to duet with the moustachioed operatic tenor Gio Compario - played by real life Welsh singer Wynne Evans - with the festive commercial airing on December 25.
Starting Friday (04.12.20), musical hopefuls are being invited to take to TikTok to belt out a Christmas classic before the deadline on December 9.
To be in with a chance of appearing in the final ad, hopefuls must post their TikTok duet to Gio’s rendition of ‘Deck the Halls’ using #DuetWithGio on the video sharing platform.
Wynne will be selecting the winners himself, and appearing alongside them in the prime time commercial.
He added: "As it’s Christmas, I’m going to take a break from my favourite insurance jingle and will be looking to duet a festive classic instead with the Great British public.
"I can’t wait to ‘Go Compare’ the entries to find out who will join me on the next ad – my Christmas gift to the nation!”
Wynne has played Gio Compario since 2009, and in 2012 he was joined by the likes of Sue Barker, Stuart Pearce and Stephen Hawking as part of the tongue-in-cheek 'Saving the Nation' campaign as they tried to kill off the character.
Professor Hawking - who sadly died in 2018 - said at the time: "I confess I am a fan of the Gocompare.com adverts, but I am also an opera fan, so I was delighted to be given the opportunity to help save the nation and silence Gio. I hope the public find it as funny as I did."
To appear in the upcoming ad, entrants should follow @gio.compario and post their TikTok duet to Gio’s rendition of ‘Deck the Halls’ by 9th December using #DuetWithGio.
