Inspired by the short-lived show from the 1980s, GLOW will tell the fictional but utterly believable story of Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie), a woman who’s out of work and struggling to make ends meet as an actress in 1980s Los Angeles.
When she finds one last chance for stardom however, she realises her world could be about to change forevermore, working alongside 12 of Hollywood’s misfits and competing with a former soap actress (played by Betty Gilpin) who left the business to be a mother.
Now with that former soap star Debbie Eagen sucked back into work, we’ll see the ladies working with Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron), a washed-up B-movie director who’s now tasked with leading this group of women to wrestling stardom.
Created by Liz Flahive (Homeland) and Carly Mensch (Nurse Jackie), the series finds executive producers in the pair alongside Orange is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan and Tara Herrmann.
